I’m pleased to announce a piece of mine made the cut over at Delicious Line, a venue for contemporary art criticism that proves brevity is the soul of critique. I’m doubly pleased to get to debut there with a review of Faina Lerman’s terrific painting show at Cave. 1,000 characters or less to capture one of Detroit’s most colorful characters – exquisite torture! But as Faina’s show proves, even a snapshot is fertile inspiration.
There is something to be said for good paintings, regardless of context. But when the creator of good paintings has somehow taken time to paint them, in addition to raising her young family and developing a burgeoning community art space, they become a triumph of the human spirit.
